80s/90s cartoons that should be turned into films!

With the Transformers becoming a hit film series and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming out soon I started thinking about the cartoons I grew up with and which ones should be transferred to the big screen.

Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Knight.

Who remembers this?   The cartoon was about a gang of good knights called the Spectral Knights who were always battling the evil Darkling Lords.   They had holographic chest pieces which contained the spirit of animals and would give the knights special powers!

Defenders of the Earth

>Clears Throat< “Lord of the jungle, the hero who stalks! The beasts call him brother, the ghost who walks!
Phantom!”.  With a theme tune that contains classic lyrics like this how can it fail!    With the recent success of Guardian’s of the Galaxy and the Avengers maybe the tales of Flash Gordon, Phantom, Mandrake and Lothar could prove to be a hit?

Jayce and the wheeled warriors

The battles of Jayce verses the evil plant-like robots called the monster minds was a classic kids program when I grew up.  With todays CGI a film version who wouldn’t bet against the movie being epic!

Dungeons and Dragons

Now I am a geek if you haven’t established that so far in this blog!  I loved this cartoon as a kid and have often thought that this could easily be a hit film or tv series. The tale of six friends who ride the dungeons and dragons ride only to be transported to a mystical realm which contains a evil vampire type baddie,  A three headed dragon and a little dwarf like dungeon master.   Classic film material if I do say so myself!

How Thundercats has not been made into a film as yet still baffles me!  Its a tale of Lion-o and the Thundercats who as the song tells us are loose and ready for war against the evil Mumm ra.   It has cat people,  a evil Egyptian mummy and a cool sword.   Oh give me sight beyond sight!
